The topic of my speech today is “Being a Good Listener”.
Good listening can always show respect, promote understanding, and improve interpersonal relationship.
Many people suggest that parents should listen more to their children, so they will understand them better, and find it easy to narrow the generation gap; teachers should listen more to their students, then they can meet their needs better, and place themselves in a good relationship with their students; students should listen more to their classmates, thus they will help and learn from each other, and a friends hip is likely to be formed.
What I want to stress is that each of us should listen to others. Show your respect and n ever stop others till they finish their talk; show you are interested by a supportive silence or a knowing smile; be openminded to different opinio ns even though you don't like them. In a word, good listening can really enable us to get closer to each other.

The topic of my speech today is “Do trust us—a generation born in the 90s”.
Living in an environment full of fier cer competition, we, a genera tion born in the 90s, are faced with more problems in entering higher schools and getting employed. Under these circumstances, we are devel oping our special manners and values, which has raised people’s concern.
They worry we care to o much about ourselves and are unwillin g to cooper ate with others, which makes it hard for us to achieve success in whatever we do. Besides, they consider us as lacking in perseverance , and this is what it takes to do any job well. Without it, we may easily give up in time of difficulty. They are also concerned that we are so eager to win instant fa me that we follow fashion blindly, which will in turn ruin our values and future.
